On the Edge

I'm packed for New Zealand but still have to wait four days before I actually drive to the airport and leave the country.  Everyone tells me how amazing it is there, how friendly the people are and how beautiful the country is.  I'm used to long distances between me and the people I love, but this will be the farthest (a whole ocean away!) I've ever been from my family and friends.

I wonder what I'll notice different first, what I'll miss most, and what I come back to the States and realize I missed the whole time.  I'm not sure what this blog will be: part travel log, so I can keep track of the days, and part journal, a place to put my reflections.

I'm on the edge, as I always seem to be.  Just before a new experience, in which, without fail, I meet amazing people and learn new things I never forget.  They always seem to start with a plane trip- to Arizona, to New York, to Boise, or to San Diego.  We'll see what this trip to Auckland will begin for me.
